Ahmad Tea Nigeria today donated food items worth hundreds of thousands
of naira to the residents of Ebute Metta Destitute Home in Lagos.
Speaking on behalf of the Managing Director of Ahmad Tea Nigeria, Mr Adejare Adepimpe, staff of the firm, Mayowa Omidiji and Eniola Adeogun said the donation to the Destitute Home is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility and a way of offering a helping ha to the needy and less privilege in our society.
According to Mayowa, ‘’we have just shared some food items to the residents of this destitute home as our own way of supporting the needy in our society.
‘’The reason we do this today as a company is because we care. We look around and we discovered that a lot of people are really suffering because of the situation of our economy.
‘’Like the blind people they cannot see and they need to eat. The lepers too they cannot go out to work in order to cater for themselves and they must eat and the same thing is applicable to the cripples. So we came up with this initiative to support these people because as good corporate citizen we know that government cannot do everything and that is why we decided to do this today and we are glad that we
have been able to do this in order to impact their lives in our own little way.’’
Mayowa also called on other Nigerians both corporate and individual to look inward and offer a helping hand to the needy and less privilege in their midst.
‘’I am also using this opportunity on behalf of Ahmad Tea Nigeria to appeal to other Nigerians especially those who are financially and materially blessed, let’s come together to help these people. They need our help. Let’s forget about the tribe, the culture, the religion, lets come together as one people, one nation to help each
other because we are all created for each other and we all need to come together to help ourselves,’’ she added.
Responding on behalf of the Home, the Secretary of the home, Muhammed Baba, thanked Ahmad Tea Nigeria for their kind gesture and appealed for more assistance from other Nigerians.
‘’We really appreciate what you have donated to us here today. People should know that some of us here are blinds, lepers and cripples, we cannot go out to work and we are surviving from donations such as this from the good hearted individuals and corporate organisations and even Lagos State government.
‘’We are appealing for more assistance from people all over the country be it corporate organization, institutions or individual. People should not wait until they have so much before they can come to help us, no matter what you bring, will be high appreciated and God will bless you.
‘’Secondly, we are also appealing to the people to see to the education of our children because we want them to go to school and be educated. Many of them are not going to school. We need people to assist in sponsoring their education so that tomorrow they can become better citizens and have the capacity to contribute their quotas to the growth of the country.
‘’When somebody helps them when they grow they can also help others and our society will become a better place to live in,’’ Muhammed Baba said.
Ahmad Tea is a UK-based family business, drawing on four generations of tea blending and tasting experience. Founded on a passion for the finest tea, we are dedicated to the unique place that tea drinking commands at the heart of daily life in Britain and beyond.
When the company was established in England, we felt that people desired an exceptional infusion which could be enjoyed every day. The selection of our first plantations and partners, our initial blending and tasting, and even our early packaging – all were driven by a commitment to meet this need. To this end, we were also one of the first companies to present tea in ways that emphasised its worth,
offering it in beautiful gift packs, exquisite tins and charming
caddies.
Over the years, as our reputation grew and our reach spread, it became equally obvious that people throughout the world shared this desire for a cup of tea that was much more than simply refreshment, but an enjoyable, memorable and satisfying experience.
Early in the life of Ahmad Tea, our Managing Director promised, “I will not sell anything that I would not drink at home.” This refusal to accept anything but the finest teas – primarily in terms of their flavour, aroma, strength and consistency continues to guide our tasters and inspire our entire company.
Ahmad Tea is renowned for the quality of its teas across the globe, and yet remains a family business, true to the vision that founded it.
