NEMA Issues Safety Advisory As High Tension Line Falls In Lagos
National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has advised motorists plying Idimu-Isheri road in Lagos to exercise utmost caution around the corridor due to the high tension cable that fell on the road.
According to WorldStagenews.com, NEMA’s acting Zonal Coordinator, South-West Zonal Office, Mr Ibrahim Farinloye in a statement issued on Tuesday in Lagos said “Drivers plying Idimu-Isheri road in Lagos have been urged to exercise utmost caution around the corridor due to the high tension/power line cable that fell on the road/Isheri roundabout axis.”
The five 330KV towers supplying power to Akangba-Ikeja West had, on December 24, 2021, collapsed in the Idimu-Isheri axis of the state.
“This has caused heavy traffic on the corridor,” Farinloye said.
He noted that though the power supply to the area was presently out, NEMA had, however, contacted the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to ensure that the area remained isolated.
According to him, the situation will remain until proper repair works are done on the line to ensure the safety of lives and property of residents of the area.
