World Bank Launches New Cybersecurity Multi-Donor Trust Fund
The World Bank Group has launched a new Cybersecurity Multi-Donor Trust Fund. The fund, which is part of the digital development agenda, aims to help better define, understand, articulate, structure, and roll out the cybersecurity development agenda in a systematic manner.
The emerging work program will offer comprehensive cybersecurity capacity development, including the definition of result expectations, country assessments, technical assistance, capacity building and training, underpinned with necessary investments in infrastructure and technology.
The launch of the Trust Fund was made possible with donor contributions from Estonia, Germany, Japan, and The Netherlands.
In connection with the launch, Estonia, represented by Mari Tomingas, emphasized the importance of ensuring that basic cybersecurity elements are integrated into all digitalization projects in development cooperation.
As a highly developed digital society, Estonia knows first-hand that using digital solutions in business, government and everyday life of residents can vastly improve governance, business climate, transparency and bring citizens closer to the state. The element of trust is key to their successful adoption by citizens. Estonia has therefore given high priority to security in cyberspace, and is ready to share expertise and experience with partner countries.
