Governor Hope Uzodinnma seeks implementation of constitution review

The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma has said Nigeria’s march to greatness depends largely on the implementation of the outcome of the current review of the 1999 Constitution.

Uzodinma stated this at a stakeholders’ meeting on 2nd South East Peer Review in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

Infrastructure decay and poor railway network in the South South and South East States were top on the agenda at the zonal town hall meeting.

Governor Uzodimma, who was represented by his Deputy, Placid Njoku said the exercise will enhance good governance and efficiency in the system.

Stakeholders called for the provision of school equipment, health facilities and a sitter punishment for rapists.

The interactive session featured Award presentation to the NEPAD National Coordinator and the Representative African union, Gloria Akubundu.

Meanwhile, Uzodimma said recently that Imo State Government is working on plans to provide welfare package to Police officers and other security agencies in the State.

Governor Hope Uzodinma disclosed the plans when he paid a visit to the Police Command headquarters in Owerri to commiserate with the leadership and personnel over the death of some of their members at the peak of insecurity in the state.

The Governor said the social welfare package is aimed at motivating and encouraging the security agencies in the State.

Uzodinma however warned those behind the bloodletting in the State to desist from the criminal act.

The Police Commissioner in Imo state, Abutu Yaro commended the Governor for the visit and expressed optimism that the visit would boost the morale of officers.
