Determined to promote insurance education and awareness, the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) has concluded to hold a secondary school quiz competition.
The event scheduled for June 3, 2021, at the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, the University of Lagos by 10 am, according to CIIN is aimed at promoting insurance education and awareness.
CIIN President and Chairman, Governing Council, Sir. Muftau Oyegunle, said the initiative would enable the institute to educate the younger generation on the need and importance of insurance, stressing that prizes would be given to secondary school students who distinguished themselves during the competition.
He noted that through the competition the institute would impart the environment and at the same time, make people understand the enormous benefits derivable from insurance.
Oyegunle also said the Institute has taken steps to boost research in the insurance sector, adding that the College of Insurance & Financial Management (CIFM) has been mandated to focus more on research that will help the growth of the sector.
“When we had our retreat early this year, we gave the Rector of the College a directive that mandated the college to research in order to find out the technical needs of the industry,” he said.
He posited that the report from the research would be released to the industry very soon. “We are working on that. We know research is part of our mandate and we are taking it very seriously. By the grace of God, before the end of my tenure, at least we must release our published research to the industry,” he said.
