3 Division Emerges Winner Of Nigerian Army Inter Formation Combat Platoon Orienteering and Adventure Championship
The 3 Division Nigerian Army has emerged the champion at the concluded Nigerian Army Inter Formation Combat Platoon Orienteering and Adventure Championship held in the Small Arms Range, Mingo Jos the Plateau state capital.
According to a statement by the Nigerian Army, the competition which witnessed display of exceptional skills, teamwork and determination came to a climax on December 1, 2023 with a 15Km combat race competition.
Declaring the championship closed, the statement said, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, revealed that the event underscored the significance of the competition in honing the skills and capacity of troops for the sensitive task of defending and securing the nation.
He noted the pivotal roles of training, knowledge of military tactics, teamwork and resilience in determining the success of military operations.
Represented by the Commandant Nigerian Army Armour School, Major General Adewale Adekeye, the COAS further remarked that the championship was a testament to the commitment of the Nigerian Army to excellence and preparedness.
In the statement, the Army Boss also commended the unwavering dedication displayed throughout the competition. “The commitment of the Nigerian Army to excellence and preparedness has been demonstrated throughout the competition,” he noted.
Congratulating the General Officer Commanding 3 Division for a well organized event, General Lagbaja also applauded all the participating Divisions for their exceptional display of skills and sportsmanship.
He noted that the outstanding victory of the Division in the championship stands as a testament to the division’s dedication to upholding the highest standards of proficiency and readiness.
The achievement he remarked, reflects the pivotal role of 3 Division in safeguarding the security and sovereignty of the citizens.
Eight formations comprising of 1 Division Kaduna, 2 Division Ibadan, 3 Division Jos and 6 Division Port Harcourt participated in the Nigerian Army Inter Formation Combat Platoon Orienteering and Adventure Championship.
Others are 8 Division Sokoto, 81 Division Lagos as well as 82 Division Enugu and Army Headquarters Garrison. Army Headquarters Garrison won the second position while 2 Division Ibadan settled for third position.
The statement stated that high point of the closing ceremony was the presentation of medals and trophies to the winners.
The event was attended by senior military officers, traditional rulers and heads of security agencies.
